TriWest Supports Guard Families Through Deployments
12/28/2011
PHOENIX — When National Guard members deploy, their families can encounter various financial challenges.
Children may face added anxiety in classrooms, where other students and teachers are not experienced in the challenges of deployment. And families may face financial stresses—such as paying a mortgage or fixing a broken water heater—without the support of a military base.
To help support National Guard families during such times of deployment, TriWest Healthcare Alliance developed its Giving to the Guard campaign, contributing financially to National Guard and Reserve charitable organizations throughout the western U.S.
For the fifth consecutive year, TriWest launched its Giving to the Guard initiative just in time for the holidays.
Give to the Guard, Give to the Community
TriWest is the company responsible for administering the military’s healthcare benefit, TRICARE, to 2.9 million beneficiaries in 21 western states. That includes members of the National Guard and their families.
"National Guard members and their families are our communities," said TriWest President and CEO David J. McIntyre, Jr. "When you give to the Guard, you're giving to your neighbors. And it's our duty to support these families who've sacrificed so much for us. We urge local communities to research their National Guard foundations and make a contribution this holiday season."
For this year's Giving to the Guard campaign, TriWest is contributing more than $300,000 to the various Guard organizations across the 21 western states it serves.
